This all-finalists show is chock full of talent. The best of the best. Taking to McGann’s stage will be Joe Fox and the Fourth Floor Band, this promising folk band comes equipped with amazingly accurate vocals and cleanly played instruments. Strangers with Knives are kings of the unknown with their own brand of psychobilly paired with surreal storytelling lyrics. Boston’s own Licious will be storming in with a beautiful showcase of ukelele and guitar music mixed in with beautiful shared female/male vocal melodies.
Tumbleweed Company are about as real as it gets. Interweaving jam/folk instrumentation with true americana inspired vocals. Sylvia Joyce and the Moment took last nights round in NY, winning the night with their own brand of Gypsy blues rock. Amber Ladd is the moniker of a female solo artist who’s music has been compared to a soulful interpretation of Bjork with more listenable beats and subject matter. You can’t miss her. New York City dreamboats Your Sister’s Canary are geared up to take you to guitar tone city. This band’s roots lay heavily in 70’s blues rock, so check them out.
Tilt-A-Whirl are what rock n roll is all about. Deep fuzz distortion and spring reverb vocals bring you right to the scene of a rock n’ roll crime drama. The Honey Brown’s name fits them extremely well. This folk/country blues group sounds like melted honey in your eardrums. They keep it “simple and enjoyable”. Rich People Food are today’s pop rock sensations. Pros of the scene, these guys are not to be taken lightly.
The Linguistic Civilians are widely acclaimed as “Vermont’s best Hip Hop Artists” and are making a giant dent in the New England underground hip hop genre. Hadrian’s Heroes, however, are a swing in the other direction. Grungy and post hardcore-ish at moments, this band hard driving guitar riffs and catchy, melodic vocals will leave you with a good taste in your mouth. Moonstone Lady are a page torn directly out of the classic rock book. Blending fuzzy rock attitude with party guitar licks that never take themselves too seriously.
Audio Revival is last year’s champions of the NCN Rompetiton. These guys pride themselves on being straight rock. Guys right out of the 90’s that skipped out on the heavily produced buzz of the new millennium and focused on what really matters: the music. Come out and check out why these guys deserved to win last year.
