How it all got started...

Boston is a great city full of Radio history.

In those early days of history, 1XE started out of Meford, MA which is argued by some to be the first radio broadcaster. Fast forward to the 70's and 80's... Boston was enjoying a thriving music scene with pillars of this local scene including Ron Della Chiesa, Oedipus, John Garabedian, and a Big Mattress that even Stern didn't move, with Charles Laquidara sitting right on top of it. Stern eventually took the mornings over here, along with Don Imus and other syndicated shows. Still, there was some great radio being broadcast here through the local shows put on by products of the local scene like Carmelita from Bay State Rock. Then, even though they weren't from around here, Opie and Anthony took over the spotlight in Boston and used it as a launching pad.
